MiniPick Overview
MiniPick is a warehouse management package running on Pocket PC handheld devices and a warehouse PC server. The following warehouse processes are automated by the available modules:
- Goods received processing
- Goods out processing (order picking)
- Stock take
- Stock location transfer
- Product and location searching
- Reporting
There are 3 components to the MiniPick application; the Access Dimensions host, the MiniPick PC server and the MiniPick handheld devices.
The Access Dimensions hosted SQL database continually provides the customer and stock data to the networked MiniPick PC server, which in turn allocates data to the relevant handheld user either automatically or driven by the warehouse manager. Communication between the handhelds and the MiniPick PC server is by standard networking or via a cradle attached to the MiniPick PC Server (a standard network PC).
The handheld device guides the user through the relevant process and confirms results back to Dimensions. Barcode scanning is used to ensure maximum speed and accuracy.
Care has been taken to design a user interface that is intuitive and requires minimal training. This means that new or part-time warehouse staff can easily pick up and use the software during periods of peak demand.
